Is this a break or a break-up

Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old Female
I've been in a relationship with this guy for about five years, where we kept breaking up and never took the relationship to a more committed level. About a month ago we decided (after fighting again) that we won't talk for one year and in one year we'll see if we still want to be in touch. The thing I am unclear about - should I just think of this as a break or should I look at other opportunities? What if I get into some kind of casual relationship and then my ex comes back ready for more commitement?

RomanceClass.com Advice
This is something important your ex and you should have discussed before taking the year long break.

And, by the way, a year long break is nothing I have ever heard of before. Most people would consider this to be a breakup.

Go out with other people. No reason to wait a year... if he hasn't contacted you by then it's clear he isn't interested.

Good luck! George
