want to help her

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
hi and thanks for reading this. well this is very serious: we broke up 3 months ago and we still talk, but today i called her and found out that she has been sexually harrased by her stepdad!! he is in jail since friday and shes been receiving professional help, so all the legal stuff has been taken care of. In NO WAY i am trying to use her problem as an excuse to get back with her but i just wanted to ask you for advice in how to approach to her. sure we still talk but the problem is that she makes no efforts to see me, which is natural and again, i ask you for advice on how to get closer to her as an ex-boyfriend that still cares about her, after all we are in good terms and i am decided to help her but just dont know how, any tips?

Send her a box of dark chocolates with a note that says "Sorry about your troubles."

When you talk with her ask her what you can do to help her. Take her out for dinner or even a long ride so you two can just talk about life and she can share as much as she wants to with you. Don't try to drag anything out of her because she may be too uptight to want to talk about it.

Letting her know that you are there for her is very important to her since she needs support at this sad time.

Good luck! George
