What does he think of me?

Well, theres this guy I met recently that I like, but I'm not sure what he thinks of me. We don't really talk in person but on IM he is always first to message me and he talks a lot. However, at school its like he doesn't even know me. We pass eachother in the halls many times but he just walks past me without even looking at me and the one time I did see him look at me he quickly turned away but I am friends with two of his friends...so what does this all mean?

It's a classic case of shyness.
You can help him overcome it by greeting whenever you see him. Look him straight in the eyes, say in a clear voice "hi" plus his name and then give him a big warm smile. Of course, this will take courage on your part.
This might fluster him the first few times, but soon he will react well and you two will start talking. After all, you can tell already that he likes you.
