should we break up?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
Hi.

I'm 20 and have been going out with my teacher since I was 14, so that's 6 years. He's now 50.

It's not just a sex thing, we do love eachother, but the only thing is that I want to get married and have kids in the future, and we've discussed this, and decided that we shouldn't try anything like that, considering the age difference.

I love him so much, and I don't want to break up with him, but obviously if I'm going to get married and have kids, I'll have to look for someone else.

Should we break up? If the answer is yes, how could I do it so that he understands and doesn't get hurt too much?

I'm really stuck. Help me!!!

RomanceClass.com Advice
There are lots of 50 year old men who start a new family So that shouldn't be an excuse.

One question is whether he is the type of man who could be a good father. Has he any children already? Did he outright refuse to get married and have children?

You should lay it on the line, in a nice way, and explain to him that marriage and children are very important to you. If you can tell him it would only be two children perhaps he would agree.

In any case, tell him that if he won't do it then you will need to find someone else. He will understand.

Good luck! George
