What can I do now?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I've known this guy for a while, we had been getting on really well and decided to meet up. We kissed and I told him I liked him, and I think he likes me too.

The problem is that he's just got out of a 6 month relationship and he told me he wasn't ready for anything else just yet. He told me he was confused about all this relationship stuff and needed time to get over his ex girlfriend.

I've fallen for this guy and I want things to work, and he's told me he just wants to be friends for the time being and that something might happen in the future but he also told me not to count on it. I also asked him if he was just letting me down gently and he said no.

How long do you think I should wait for him? And what can I talk to him about now? Cos it's gone kinda awkward and I dunno what to say. Please help.

RomanceClass.com Advice
After a six month relationship you should give him at least a month to get over it and feel comfortable dating again.

It will be sort of awkward for a bit but you can overcome that with patience and effort. Talk to him naturally and don't let your friendship die out.

Talk about school, parents, friends, pets, music, videos, sports, and whatever else comes to mind. Do this quickly or it will get more awkward.

Think of him as just a friend and things will be fine.

Good luck! George
