Jealousy =/

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
Me and my girlfriend have been going steady for about 4 months now, and I can't stop being jealous over every guy that she meets. We argue about the same thing over and over how I'm the jealous one when she told me she wants me to stop talking to girls. I have no friends of the opposite sex as of now. And she on the other hand has friends of the opposite sex so what am I suppose to think? I realize I can't pick or choose who she can and cannot be friends with. I read all of your advice about how to not be jealous and overcome it but I just can't get over this mental block of being jealous all the time. She asks me everyday if I talk to girls and if I dare ask her if she talked to any guys she flips out on me and all hell breaks loose and I'm forced to listen to her yell. This is not the first relationship I've been in that I've had this problem but please help. Thanks for your time. - #17

RomanceClass.com Advice
Jealousy is definitely a mental block. I've had it a little bit myself.

The key is trusting someone to try not to hurt you and vice-versa.

So tell her that you will make every effort to control your jealousy if she will promise to *try* to not to do something that will hurt you. By doing this you are opening a very wide door of trust. For example, if she wants to go to a movie with a guy you must not complain or quiz her when she gets back.

Same goes for her. She has to trust you with women. You go first and show her how it works.

This is obviously not any easy thing to do, but if you work hard at it, it can save your relationship.

Good luck! George
