Will it hurt one of us in the end?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
I have written to this site a couple times now, my first was the love story "Grade School Love" or something like that.
I am just turned 16, and this girl (14) I know from my youth group (for over a year)and I are really good friends. I live in Kansas, she lives in Illinois. Our youth group has regional conventions only in December and April. We have been talking with each other everyday online, and I can easily tell she really likes me. I'm almost certain we're going to hook up (or possibly more) at the winter conv because we've talked about it. Our youth group is known for these kinds of things.
However, i have only had one girlfriend before, and while i was with her, i never learned how to get really intimate. What I would like to know is: Should I go through with it? because i like her too. But, we won't see each other until the next conv. and how would that affect our relationship as friends if either of us get a gf/bf by then?

thanks.

RomanceClass.com Advice
The biggest problem you have to think about is that she is under-age. You could be charged with statutory rape if you become too intimate with her. Each state has its own rules about this and only a lawyer can tell you where you stand. I doubt that 14 is the age of consent wherever you were going to meet. Usually the age is 16 or 18.

Good luck! George
