The Annoying Ex

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
What do you do when an annoying ex keeps trying to butt back into the picture?

Ah, exs are extremely difficult to deal with. If they feel like they still want to be a part of their ex´s life, they can really cause HUGE amounts of trouble.

You need to create a united front against this. The ex wants to divide you two. You have to show that you can't be divided. Sit down with your partner and discuss what you are going to do *together* to face the situation.

You really need your partner's full cooperation. Maybe your partner is flattered that the ex is still interested, and isn't really resisting. Maybe the ex doesn´t clearly understand that your partner really is done with that old relationship. In any case, explain to your partner how you feel and that your relationship is more important than this ex's delusions.

Then, if the ex starts to intrude, the *both* of you can jointly say "get lost" or whatever seems appropriate at the time. If the ex is calling, get call waiting and block the calls. If the ex swings by, refuse to open the door. People thrive on attention and if they don´t get it they get frustrated and go elsewhere.
