how do i let him know i'm interested?

there's a guy that works at a pet shop here in town. i don't know him too well. i don't even know if he's single. but he's cute and always real nice and smiling, and gives me discounts on just about anything when i go in there if he's on the register.
he used to flirt with me a little but i was dating someone and the guy i was dating noticed and started sticking real close to me, so no more flirting took place.
how would i let him know i'm interested in him, or learn anything about him, or even see about asking him out?

Since you don't really know him, the first thing to do is ask him about himself. What's his name, where's he from, is he single, would he like to message?
Sounds like a lot to ask, but if you want to get the job done just suck up your gut and get to it. If things go well, then ask him out.
He is very friendly with you so you shouldn't worry.
