i'm fairly shy, and there is this guy that i'm interested in, and i would like to talk to him, he stares at me most of the time when i see him... though i don't want to go up and talk to him without knowing that i would have a possible chance at friendship...or more..
How do i approach this?

How can you say you won't talk with him unless you have a guarantee that things will work out? The whole point of talking to him is to find OUT what he's like to see if things WILL work out :) That's how life works!
