Spouses, Sleep and Death

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
Is it true that the spouse who goes to sleep first on the day of the wedding night is the first spouse to die? I read it in a superstition website. Can you let me know if this is true?

That is NOT true at all!! Many times both people fall asleep at the exact same time, snuggled up in each others arms. Many times neither person sleeps at all - they stay awake all night and into the next day! Are you claiming that if one person is 300 pounds overweight, smokes and is a diabetic, as long as they stay awake longer they'll live longer? I don't think so.

In any relationship, the person who is going to die first is usually the person who takes less care of their health. In most modern societies, this means the person who is more overweight, who doesn't take their vitamins and who doesn't bother to exercise. If you want to know who is going to die first, take a look at those factors. That should predict it pretty accurately.
