Four and a Half Months with a Widower

Visitor's Question from a 51-60 year old Female
I'm a 58 yr old widow and have been dating a 62 year old widower. We have lots in common, and for the first time I feel like I'm falling in love. We have a great time together, yet he doesn't seem to want to commit emotionally.

Do I hang in with him or get out now before I get really hurt. He is so wonderful in every way except that. He has said to me a few times that he has never told anyone that he loves them since his wife died. However, he is so wonderful to me in other ways, but I want to feel loved again. It's only been 4-1/2 months, but they have been great. I just need more.

RomanceClass.com Advice
Most teen couples that date for 4 months haven't gotten to 'I love you' yet, never mind someone who was married to a woman they loved and had to see her die. I think you should relish the connection you have and take it slowly. Words mean little - actions mean a lot. If he's not ready to say the words, that's fine. If you two enjoy each other's company, that is what is important.
