I Like Her, She Likes Him, He Likes Someone Else

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Male
Ok, here's the situation: There's this girl in a few of my classes at school and we've developed a friendship, we talk all the time at school and at home on yahoo messenger. The problem is over the course of our friendship we've flirted a little bit here and there and I've started to like her as more then just a friend. But, one night on messenger she told me about a guy she liked and she seemed really into him. This came as a suprise to me because I had never seen them together or talk or anything. Meanwhile, one of my friends told me about a secret girl he was dating. I'm not sure if I should tell her about this guy's secret date. I also wanted to know if I should ask her out anyway. I hope you can help me.

Ah but are you sure that SHE is not the girl that he is interested in? Maybe the two are already a pair? It could be that the girl looks at you as a friend only and is already semi-dating this other guy.

I would talk to her IN PERSON about this because important things should never be said over the computer. The potential for miscommunication and disaster is just too strong. Find a way to get to her in person in private, and then warn her that you know this guy is secretly seeing someone already. If it is her, you can probably tell by how she reacts and hopefully she'll tell you. If it is NOT her, then you are now there to console her and to offer to go out with her yourself.
