Why does the First Time Hurt?

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
The main reason a girl can feel pain during sex for the first time is that the hymen is ripped open. Your vagina is a "tunnel" going into your body. At the entrance of that tunnel is a thin covering of skin, protecting it from dirt and such. Many girls break their hymen open through normal activities like biking or horseback riding. But if the hymen is still there when a girl goes to have sex for the first time, the guy's sex organ is what has to rip that layer of skin open, and it can hurt. It's like piercing an ear - it is an object going through your skin and causing it to bleed.
