Friend on the rebound?

Visitor's Question from a 41-50 year old Female
I have a friend who is the type of woman who always needs a man.She was involved with this guy years ago, but, they split up and went on their separate ways. She hooked up with him again a year ago.She was always calling him and telling people that she was going to move up north with him.Four months ago, they split up because the guy didn't want to be tied down with someone and wanted to live his own life.My friend was very hurt, but, accepted his decision. She is now engaged to a guy that she has dated only a short period of time. They plan on getting married in a couple of months.I believe that she is marrying this man on the rebound.I know her ex and she always ask me how he is doing and if he is going with anyone. My friend and I have drifted apart in that she made a snotty remark to me by saying that I hated children.I'm not married and I don't have any children, but,I have nieces and nephews that I LOVE with all my heart.I was deeply hurt over her remark.I told her that not all of us have been lucky enough to find someone special. She is the kind of person that thinks that a woman is less of a woman if she isn't married with children.I do feel sorry for her in that I don't think that she really loves this guy and will always think about the ex that got away. What do you think of this? Thanks

You are right, of course, that not every woman needs to get married and have children. Some don't want to and some never had a good chance. Your friend was wrong to say that.

Your friend may be on the rebound and if so let's hope she finds out before she gets married. I wouldn't advise you to get involved in that matter unless she asks you.

It is nice of you to worry about your friend!

Best wishes,
George
