Taking the first step to talk
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Male There's this girl who iv seen around school, i know of her and she knows of me, thats about it apart from the fact her mum is a work mate of my mum at the local hospital.
Iv got her mobile number through a friend, but I don't know how I should approach asking her if she wants to meet up sometime or even just talk?? Thanks alot! Sam, England
RomanceClass.com Advice I definitely wouldn't call her number until SHE gives it to you, otherwise she'll feel like she's being stalked, that some random person can just call her up on her phone. So I would find casual ways to start entering her circle of friends. Say hi in the hallways, just smile as you pass. If you have classes together, ask what the homework was. Find little ways to make yourself a 'normal' friendly part of her life.
Since your moms both work together that can be an easy way to make things even closer. Find out from your mom about a volunteer day, where people make valentines or something for the sick children. Then, after you've been "friendly" with her for a week or two, say something like, "Hey, your mom works with mine at XXXX, right? I'm doing a valentine project for the sick cancer children, and needed some help with the hearts. Would you be able to help me out?" That way it's not a date, and it's something "normal" because she's also associated with the hospital. And it shows you're a caring guy, and would she really say no to helping sick kids? It's a very non-threatening thing, and a feel-good thing, and the more projects like that you do, the closer you two become. And you help out people too!
