Will ex come back?

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
Hi, my boyfriend recently broke up with me for his ex. Him and his ex had been together for about 3 years. They broke up because she cheated on him and they also had continual fights throughout their entire relationship. They split this past January and were kind of off and on for a while. I think he was trying to hold on but she just kept blowing him off. In July him and I ran into each other while I was home from college. I have had a secret crush on him for years so after a friend told me that him and his ex were on the rocks I casually gave him my number and left it open for him to decide if he wanted to call or not. A week later he called. We started dating immediately. It was obvious to everyone around us how well we were hitting it off. After the first couple of weeks his ex started calling me and telling me that, "he is just using you to make me jealous" and also telling me that they still talked on a regular basis and that he was still expressing interest in her. I was confused, and confronted my boyfriend about it all. He told me that they had talked on the phone a few times but the conversations consisted of her crying and pleading for him back. He also commented that she didn't want anything to do with him and now that he was talkig to me she suddenly was interested again. I was reluctant to believe either person but as we continued to date he seemed to get more and more into me. Sometimes during the week, he would drive 2 hours home from work to see me at college and then get up the next morning and drive 2 more hours back to work. We spent every weekend together and talked on the phone numerous times a day. He always told me how easy I made life for him and how amazing I was. We even took weekend trips together. Sometimes we would get on the subject of his ex and he would tell me crazy stories about her and mean things that she would do to him and the name calling she always did. He portrayed their relationship to me very immature. He also said that she was very manipulative. We continued to date for about 3 months. His friends commented on how much happier he seemed with me. We were even starting to plan a trip to Mexico for a week or two. I thought that everything was going great and then all of a sudden he calls me one night telling me how much he liked me and how amazing he thinks I am but that he just doesn't have those special feelings for me anymore. I was devastated and I knew something was going on that I didn't know about for him to make such a quick switch. He insisted that he just didn't see me with those feelings anymore. And then two days later I find out through a friend that him and his ex are getting back together. I just do not understand why. He told me so many negative things about her and now he's getting back with her so suddenly?? They're relationshiop was so bad the first time around that I can't help but think that they will be way to scarred for round 2 to even work. I know they'll probably get along for a while, but if history is correct they'll be fighting after a month or two. I just can't help but think that he'll regret getting back with her and if they break up that he'll regret giving me up. Do you think he'll ever want me back? I really need an outsiders advice. Sorry this is so long I just feel really confused.

RomanceClass.com Advice
I am sorry you are in this situation.

From the way you described what happened, I think there is a good chance that he will split again with his ex and come crawling back to you. You are obviously better suited to be with him than she is.

Best wishes,
George
