hello. i know this girl at work and she's really nice and i've liked her for sometime now. i heard through the grapevine that she likes me, so i tried talking to her but she always tries to avoid me and ends conversations quickly. i dont know whether what i heard was just bullshit. can u help me?

There could be all sorts of reasons for why she feels uncomfortable. Maybe her boss has yelled at her for talking on the job. Stranger things have happened! Don't look at her as a "potential date". Look at her as a "coworker to be friends with". Try just talking to her as a friend when you see her. If she avoids even just quick talks with 'hi' and 'hello', then something strange is going on. If she handles those well, start talking a bit longer each time. Work on this gradually. Your aim should be to get to be friends with her. If she hesitates at some point, it might be the work environment. Very few people will turn down a friendly chat unless there is some sort of pressure being put on them. That's part of why it's always important to start with the friendship first, so you can build that level of comfort with each other.
