Nostalgia & Rebound

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I recently broke up with my boyfriend of almost 2 years, we had been fighting lots and had broken up a few times before. I mopped around for awhile and then realized that it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders and was happy again. I met a new guy and we started dating. We recently went to a Christmas party at the same hotel where my ex happens to work. Since the breakup my ex and I have been talking and it was fine, it didnt even bother me when he was talking about other girls hitting on him. But I saw him there and there was a flood of emotions that came flooding back to me and I started to think of all the time we spent together all the good things we had shared. (He was my first and my first boyfriend Im almost 20 now). I left the Christmas party with my new boyfriend and we hung out for awhile and I didnt think about my ex at all, we just had fun. After he left though I went to my room and started to think about my ex again making me feel slightly sad. Do you think this is just normal because of what we shared and will just pass with time? Or do you think I might have just gotten a rebound boyfriend and may end up hurting him? Please Help. Thanks.

Feeling nostalgia for your ex sounds normal especially during the Holiday Season. It should fade in time.

Your current boyfriend may be a rebound... it's too early to say. He is well aware of his position and should not be surprised if you leave him.

Good luck! George
