There is this girl she is a friend of one of my friends and I quite like her. My friend told me that she might like me and I have been talking to her on MSN and had some interesting conversations, but she is coming back soon and the few times I met her, she is extremely shy. She is also from Malaysia and I don't know how much she knows about dating customs in the west. I don't know if she will talk to me in person all that much, although she is very talkative on MSN. How should I go about trying to get her to like me and go out on a date with me? She doesn't have any friends except my friend who introduced me to her, and she is not here now. Should I start by being friends with her and hanging out with her, and hope something will develop?

First off, suggest that you continue communicating by msn when she returns.

Then, use your own suggestion about being her good friend and hanging out together. Those will certainly help her to like you. Since she has few friends her, she will be delighted to have you as a friend.

To help her overcome her shyness try to be as outgoing and friendly as you can be as this will put her more at ease.
