Why did he live a double-life?

well im met this guy like three years ago, we started out as friends. then we got to know each other even better an decided to give it a chance. so we started dating for like 9 months, and then i found out that everything he told me was lies. he lied to me about his age, his name, basically everything! he told me that he didn't know how to tell me after we started dating. he says's he loves an he was so selfish of what he done to me. i wanted to know how come he didn't just tell me an be honest with me? why did he live a double-life? how can i trust him, i love him but im not sure if i love him or the fake him?

Perhaps he was ashamed of who he was.
You probably wonder what else he hasn't told you yet. That's a bad feeling to have.
Loving him will have to start over from scratch because he was so dishonest.
