I dont get how she lost interest in me

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
I have a problem here. Heres how this started. I work with this girl and shes a sweetheart. She had a bf who shes been with for the past year and a half. One day me and her made plans to hang out(we never used to hang out) and we hung out one day..that became almost everyday. Her bf couldnt handle it so they broke up. She was heartbroken and she would always come to me when she needed somebody to talk to. Well everything was going good. I can tell she really really liked me a lot. I didnt ask her out before because I wanted to give her some time because of the problem she had with her ex. Her ex n all his friends want to kill me so bad. Anyways...a few weeks ago, she looses interest in me, I dont know why? SHe tries to get back with her ex but then when she did she practically left me hanging so I backed away. Some issues happened with her and her ex and she stopped trying to get with him.(he treats her like sh*t) and me, I give her flowers every once ina while, ima musician so I write music to her. poems to her. Id always take her out somewhere you know, just do anything to see her smile. Anyways, so at this one point a few months ago she really liked me. Now she says she just likes me as a very good friend and shes not really looking for a relationship. Im not sure what to do. I mean, before when I left her alone she called me up one night crying she really missed me. Well, now I been kinda leaving her alone. I mean I think she lost interest in me because of the fact she doesnt want to get hurt anymore. I been there for her always no matter how bad she treated me. I feel like the rebound guy but then again shes a very very honest person. she must have not meant for it to be like that. Anyways, my problem is that I really like this girl. and she tells me she likes me just as a good friend. nothing more. I dont know what to do, because I dont get how she lost interest in me, I stopped with the mood swings Id have because its pointless for that I realized. So I know she cares about me a lot, she says it and I can see it too. Well, I really would do anything to get with this girl. shes 18 and im 19. Id do anything to be with her. lately I been kinda leaving her alone. you know what I mean? I havent been bothering her or really talking to her all that much. Sometimes It seems like she really likes me, and sometimes it seems like she doesnt like me anymore then just a friend. I dont understand how she can like me sooo much and then lose interest. WHat should I do? its hard for me to be friends with somebody who I have feelings for. she says she isnt looking for anybody. I think shes confused. but please email me, help me out. what should I do? i really like this girl.

She told you why she is holding back... she doesn't want to get hurt again.

She needs time to heal and it's great that you are there as a best friend. Make sure you continue to be there for her. See if she is willing to hang out again without any pressure to go out or be more than friends.

Give her time to recover from her loss and you will probably come out a winner.

Good luck! George
