It sounds as if he has a crush on you, but, if you do not know him, it is going to be difficult to know whether he is trustworthy or not.
Perhaps you could go out or meet up as part of a group, so that you can actually get to know each other a little.
Be sure to stay where there are others around and where it is safe until you really know people well enough to trust them.
