Just because the person you are interested in sounds good on an online dating website, does not mean they are exactly that. Bring a friend for your first date and tell the other person to do the same. This will provide security as well as lighten the atmosphere.

I wouldn't recommend meeting up with a stranger alone, though. It's not a good idea and has cost some girls their lives or their health.
