Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 6 months and we are very much in love with each other. We both used to work together, which is how we met, but I recently quit. A month or so after I quit, an old girl friend of his started working there. He told me that a year and a half ago she used to like him and basically tried to break up his relationship. She didn't go as far as trying to seduce him though. Ever since she started working there we have had problems in our relationship. I'm jealous of their friendship because it seems he considers her to be a better friend than me. Recently I read a message he was sending to her and it was blatantly obvious they were flirting. I had an ex-boyfriend who flirted with girls and he ended up cheating on me, so of course I am a little cautious. I trust my boyfriend and I trust he would never cheat on me because it ruined his parent's marriage. But I can't trust the girl he works with. It seems like everytime I go in to see him she is always acting like she likes him. I want them to be friends because I don't want to control his life, but I just can't seem to get past all that she does. Please help before my relationship is destroyed.

Our Suggestion:
Don't worry about your relationship being destroyed.

You said you trust him. Trust is one of the most important aspects of a good relationship. So you've got that going for you.

As far as she is concerned, there is nothing you can do about that--except worry. So fight against that worry. Any time it comes to mind tell it to get lost, that your b/f loves only you. After a hundred or so times the worry will go away and stop trying to bother you.

Continue to talk with your b/f and express your concerns in a gentle way. As a good man he will reassure you of his love for you and that will also help you through this turmoil.

Good luck! George
