Is kissing a MUST?

Visitor's Question:
Dear George,
I just started dating this guy, and he's been wonderful. But there's a little issue that I worry about. I'm still a virgin and have actually not even given up my first kiss yet. As a teenager I wanted to save all my kisses for my future husband, and this hasn't changed. Even in my last two relationships, I never kissed the guys (but I let them kiss me). This time, this guy is REALLY great! There's an amazing connection with him, and I really want this to work between us. He is so far very patient with me and hasn't pushed me into kissing. He said he didn't want to change what I believed. I do let him kiss me, and he kisses me on my cheek, neck, face, hands ... and I do feel good when he kisses me. I am trying hard not to kiss him, but a part of me is a bit worried that if I don't kiss him, he's going to leave me sooner or later. Matter of fact, I do have desires, and I do want to kiss him myself, but then I am still struggling because I am afraid I might regret if he turns out NOT to be my future husband. Do you think he will leave me if I don't kiss him? Or do some guys actually respect the girl more if she's not so "easy"? I'm confused. Please help! Thank you so much in advance!

Our Suggestion:
My advice is to kiss him.

You obviously want to and you are right he might leave you over this issue.

Most guys won't marry a woman without sleeping with them first. The reason is they don't want to wait until marriage and then find out the woman is a "cold fish" or somehow unsatisfactory in bed. The same is true of most women who wants to know how a man acts in bed before marrying him.

However, don't let anyone (even me) try to talk you out of your beliefs and feelings. Just know the risks you are taking by refusing to engage in normal romantic activities with potential marriage candidates.

Good luck! George
p.s. in answer to your stated question... yes, in my opinion, kissing is a MUST.
