Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
i have a gal pal, we know each other from a job we used to have and keep decent phone/online contact but have never actually hung out. i saw her about one month ago for the first time in nearly a year and we talked for a bit. the point is i have liked this girl for four years and two years ago it came up and the anwser then was i like you like a friend. recently there have been offers to hang out (they had died down for awhile, we never have mostly due to schedule) and i was thinking things might be changing perhaps. last night i got an IM from here and we chatted and she asked if i had to work this saturday because she needed needed a date for one of her good gal pals wedding. she said at this point it looks like she is going stag, so i asked if she had asked every guy she knew (coyly trying to figure out if this was a date or not) and she said "no sha had not lol". i am confused as to the nature of this, meaning whether or not it is a date or a friend thing. i know girls sometimes dont like to go alone but i didnt know if this was romantic or w/e. i have been advised by my gal pals it might be but it could just be an oppourtunity for you two to hang out and she doesnt want to go alone. they seem to think this is not romantic. but dont know if her feelings have changed. i cant go anyway but it is haunting me because i like her so much. i suppose my "beam of hope" is that because we have never actually hung out a wedding date seems a little "datey" however i am reminded of the "she thinks your a nice guy, fun etc, and doesnt want to go alone so thought it would be a good oppourtunity for you to hang out". any suggestions? thank you

Our Suggestion:
It would have been a good opportunity for you two to hang out and get to know each other better. Too bad you couldn't have figure out some way to shake yourself free.

After being turned down for this, she will be less likely to ask you again. So if you want something to happen, you better think of something soon.

Good luck! George
