Should I take a risk?

Visitor's Question:
I met a guy two years ago when I first came to college. We are now really good friends. We're not extremely close or anything because his major is time consuming, but he's the closest guy friend I have. The problem is, the more I've learned about him, the more I like him and now I'm head over heals and can't get him off my mind. So much to the point that it drives me crazy! I care about him deeply and would do anything for him. I haven't said anything to him about this though. I'm afraid it may make the friendship awkward. I'm not sure how he feels about me. I mean, he's always so nice to me most times and always says the right thing. But I do get mixed signals from him a lot (like sometimes it seems like he wants to be close to me and other times he keeps his distance. We have a lot in common and we always have a great time when we're around each other. Should I risk telling him how I feel at the expense of our friendship?

Our Suggestion:
This is not an unusual situation.

There is a great friendship, one falls for the other, and then the worry about destroying a friendship raises it's ugly head.

My advice is to tell him that you are "developing feelings" for him and ask him how he feels about that. This is not bold enough to cause a break in your friendship but it will bring some feelings out into the open.

Good luck! George
