If you were 10 and he was 8 that might be an issue. But I'm assuming you're of dating age, and 2 years are hardly anything at all when you're dating. It all comes down to if you like each other and get along together. It's good that you're sensitive to the friend issue but again that is a normal, common part of dating. People are always dating the friends of their exs or the sisters or their last date or so on. People hang out in groups and naturally tend to date other group members. So yes, the friend might like you and you might to have used to like the friend. But you work through these things and end up with the person best suited to you. If everybody refused to date friends of exs, we would be a very lonely world! It's always best to be friends first, and to build on that friendship.
