Ways to Talk to Her

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
Last school year, as the days went on, I'm starting to feel more and more attached to one of my female friends. Over the summer, we stayed in touch with e-mail, but other than that we really didn't get a chance to talk, since I live in a small place where you nobody really meets outside of school.

This school year, I only have one class with her at the end of the day, so I only have about 5 minutes to talk to her between classes; however, I feel really embarassed talking/flirting with her in front of other people whom would jump at the chance to make fun of me for it. She rides the bus to school and participates in sports afterwards, so I really don't know how I can talk to her without attracting negative attention from unwanted places. Please help.

Our Suggestion:
If she's in sports, that's easy - get interested in the sport. Watch news shows about that sport and mention them to her in the 5 minutes you get. Say you'd love to watch her play sometime, undoubtedly she'll say yes. At some point you have to stop worrying about what other people think. Who cares if other people on the bus want to tease you about going to watch the team play. That would be pretty silly of them anyway since lots of people watch sports teams play. If they are so bored that all they have to talk about is what you do with your spare time, they're not people I would worry too much about. And the more time you spend with her, the more you'll realize just whose opinion DOES matter.

She is going to want a guy in her life that thinks she is worthy of time and attention - not one that runs away because someone might see him talking to her. So be there for her :)
