I have jealousy that confuses me.

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My best friend and I got together when we were both at very low points in our lives. She was dealing with an abusive husband, I was dealing with coming out of a long period of isolation. Needless to say, we leaned on each other. No romance, but very intimate in emotional terms.

OK, so she finds a boyfriend (after her divorce) who is exactly what she deserves in her life. I was overjoyed for her...and then I became incredibly jealous and hurt. It confuses the blazes out of me. Our friendship and closeness hasn't changed at all, yet I continue feeling about her as I would an ex. It's very confusing to me.

The biggest feeling is an irrational fear that I'm being left behind. I haven't been able to find a relationship as quickly as my friend, and I get this feeling of abandonment.

Any ideas?? Any methods to ease the discomfort?

Thank you.

Our Suggestion:
Since you are best friends, take advantage of that status.

Have long deep conversations explaining how you feel and ask for her advice. She should be willing to talk this over with you. If she won't she isn't a very good friend.

That's what friends are for... you will feel better.

Good luck! George
