Jealous that he's having fun when I'm not

Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 years. We met in college at the beginning of our freshman year and both live in NJ but an hour apart. My family just moved an hour away from the house I lived in during high school and my sister lives in NYC so I am pretty much alone. My boyfriend works quite often but he is in the process of getting a new car so he has no current mode of transportation. He has these two "best friends" who happen to be girls who pick him up and drop him off everywhere. They all joined the same gym and meet up there often and go to one of the girl's parent's restaurants to eat on a daily basis. When I call him he either ignores my call or tells me "I'm at the restaurant, I can't talk". I know he would never cheat on me but a part of me feels like it's unfair for me to be miserable while he's out having fun, especially with two girls. Am I being unrealistic?

Our Suggestion:
You are being realistic not unrealistic.

It is unfair for him to have so much fun and companionship while you are left miserable alone. Of course, you don't want to deprive him of his fun, but you deserve some fun times with him too.

Tell him you need to spend more time with him and figure out what is reasonable. Perhaps seeing more of you would not interfere with his other activities in which case it is a win-win situation. But, whatever the case is, you should not be left alone day after day.

Hopefully he will see how selfish he is being and change his ways.

Good luck! George
