Visitor's Question:
I am 23 and was with my girl for 3 years we have currently broken up because she said that I am to jealous and to controlling. She thinks that I was jealous of her best friend who is a female because I get upset because she is around her or that she spends alot of time with her. Though this is not the case this is what she claims. I can admit to myself that I can become jealous at times and do not have a problem admitting this. There have been times that we have gotten into arguments because she would put her friends before me and we could make plans for a weekend to spend together and she would go with her friends instead of me. There are also times that I would get upset if we are driving in the car and she is either constantly texting someone or she is talking on the phone. She tells me that there is no problem with her doing this but I see it as a problem. Also i can become jealous if I ask her if she text guys and she says yea sometimes she does I mean that is when my jealousy comes out even more. I tried to explain to her that my jealousy is a cause of the love she does not show in the relationship or the appreciate of me in the relationship. My girlfriend has never surprised me thought of anything to take me out and do something it has always been me planning the trips doing surprises making plans for the weekend trying to spend time with her and she doesnt do anything. Im not jealous of her friend I guess its more me being jealous of the time her friend receives more than me, my girl goes to school with this girl everyday and when the weekend comes sometimes she wouldnt spend the time with me she would be with her, me and my girl could be talking on the phone and if her best friend calls she tells me that she will call me back or times that she wouldnt even click back over. I mean I felt I have done everything possible what else is there for me to do?

Our Suggestion:
You are broken up and that's the way it should stay.

She is not treating you right and you are correct to be upset about it. Why torture yourself over this losing situation? Sometimes it is better to find someone new and let the other one slide.

Hope you can see the logic in this.

Good luck! George
