What's a good way to approach him? And what kind of timing should I have?

Visitor's Question:
I'm 14, I'm a freshman this year, and I've liked this guy for 5 years, and we've been in the same elementary and middle school, but I've never talked to him much. I didn't really want to do anything because I was really young, but I can definitely handle it now.
But, I don't have any classes with him, and our classrooms are really far apart, so I can't even walk with him or anything. Also, I don't want him to know that I like him just yet. I'd rather wait until he knows me better, since we only really talk when we accidentally see each other. At lunch, he's always surrounded by a bunch of people, too.
I'd like to know if you can help me with finding some way to help us meet more. Also, how can I know what time would be good for asking him out? And is there any way to let him know that I want to help without making it obvious that I like him?

Our Suggestion:
Ask him if he has joined any clubs or activities. If he has then try to join also. If you have already joined something then ask him if he wants to try it out too. This will take care of your being able to meet more.

The time to ask him out is when you feel comfortable doing it. He will be very happy to be asked out.

If you do all this, it will be obvious that you like him... and that is a good thing. You will be happy and so will he.

Good luck! George
