Way too overly jealous of my Bfs best girl friend

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend has a best girl friend which of course I am extremely jealous of, but the thing is its a lot more complicated than that. You see she likes him and believes she is in love with him. She respects our relationship and is not trying to get in the way and has tried multiple times to end the friendship. He was having confused feelings at one point as well he said he never ever even thought about leaving me and just wanted the feeling to go away and I trust and believe that. He has been trying his best for me like he tries not to talk to her on the phone too much, tries to spend little time with her and if he is with her he is almost always with other friends never alone. Once he was about the end the friendship with her for me since he was afraid of losing me so you see he is trying a lot! I love that and now I really need help because the feeling just doesn't go away!!! Its like a disease and i dont want it to sabotage our relationship. She is like the only person he trusts besides me I cant take that away from him. I'm even attempting to be friends with her which was hard since I held anger towards her. I dont know what else to do I dont want to keep trying to control him every time I see them together, plus since many people believe that a guy and girl cant be best friends people are talking saying hes cheating on me. I really trust him hes always told me the truth even if it did hurt me. What can I do??? If he tells me he got off the phone with her, I get jealous, if I see them together at school, I get jealous. Is there a cure for this disease?!

Our Suggestion:
The only cure for jealousy is to trust that he won't hurt you.

You are doing all the right things for this to happen. The most important is that you are talking this over with openness and respect. Now you have to continue and let time do its work.

Ignore what other people say. Your boyfriend is more mature than they are because having opposite-sex friends is a mature activity and it is good for everyone to get used to it.

Good luck! George
