Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I'm confused right now. I have a boyfriend of two years who seems to care about me, but I've been losing my feelings for him. I still love him, but I don't feel like we have anything in common.

However, there is a boy I have been friends with for a while and have discovered feelings for. I don't know if he likes me, but a few people think so. We flirt during class and trust each other with personal issues. I think he hasn't said anything because he knows of my boyfriend. He's always looking at me and smiles when he greets me, and he rambles while talking to me, hardly saying a few words to anyone else.

I plan on breaking up with my boyfriend out of responsibility. I shouldn't stay with him if I'm thinking about another boy. Do you think it's worth going for my other friend?
Thank you.

Our Suggestion:
My advice is that you don't break up with your boyfriend just yet. You said you still love him but that you have little in common. That problem could be worked on if you and your boyfriend talked about it. You probably have more in common that you realize and the thoughts of this other boy may have distracted you. It isn't unusual to have thoughts of another person from time to time. That is no reason to break up.

Give your boyfriend a chance to improve your relationship... and you should work on it too. Love is not something to throw away so easily.

Good luck! George
