How am I supposed to approach him?Suggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: I'm still in high school, and 15 years old, and I've like this guy for a year already! He's the friend of one of my best friend's friend.. He's also a grade above me. All of my friends keep telling me to talk to him, but I can't gather that courage because 1)we've never been introduced and 2)he probably doesn't know I exist! I would find it extremely weird if I suddenly went up to him and said "Hi! My name is..." And although I'm acquainted with my friend's friend, I don't know him well enough to even start talking with him.. I don't even want to because it would be just weird... My friend has already suggested that she could have her friend introduce me to the guy I like but I've already refused. I feel that if I did that, I'd be using our friendship! I don't know what to do! I really do want to talk to him... what should I do? How do I start talking to him? Our Suggestion: It is difficult to meet somebody new. But everyone does it. First, it is perfectly normal to walk up to someone and introduce yourself. Just say "Hi, my name is... and I'm a friend of ..." Then have something ready to talk about. Something easy like how the basketball team is doing. Now you said it takes courage and you are right. Everything new in life takes courage. Courage is like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets and the easier it becomes to do hard things. So give it a shot. Second, friendships are supposed to be useful. So don't be shy about asking someone to introduce you. This will be easier than doing it yourself as I described above. Bottom line... do you want to meet him or not?? No more excuses. Good luck!
