Jealous of My Girlfriend and My Friends

Visitor's Question:
My girlfriend and I have been together for 7 months and in small doses throughout the whole relationship I have had some jealousy issues with her and my friends. She has become friends with them as a result of our relationship and has become close with them to the point where they talk with me necessarily knowing. And she will tell me they were talking if I ask or in normal conversation, there is no secret about it. But in one particular case she seems to be a little bit flirty with, but this could be only in my eyes. And when i talk to her about it she promises me it is nothing and that I am the only guy for her but they still joke around and stuff and i still feel a tad bit jealous. And in another case my best friend now goes to her for advice instead of coming to me. They talk at least 2 times a month about problems he is having and he never comes to me. Jealousy arises again. I know that in both cases I am probably blowing it all out of proportion but how do I overcome the jealousy?

Our Suggestion:
The only way to overcome jealousy is to have complete trust in your relationship. If you don't trust your girlfriend or your friend then nothing I say or they say will help. Do you feel that she deserves your trust? If you answer no then maybe she's not the right girl for you. How is your self confidence? Do you feel good about yourself? Often times when there's a trust issue, the person doesn't believe they're deserving of anther's love and will find fault with them. Take a good look at yourself and if you check out ok, then look closer at your relationship with her.
