I'm Jealous Whenever he Leaves Me

Visitor's Question:
I have been with my boyfriend for 8 months. He is my first love. In the beginning we had broken up for a week. One night out of that week he had called his ex girlfriend to pick him up and I found out. It completely crushed me. He said it was going to happen sooner than later. He said they talked it out and she now realizes they can't and won't ever be together and that he loved me. It was closure. We ended up getting back together.

Things have been great but I still don't trust him. Once in a while he goes out with his friends. Everytime he does I just freak out that he is cheating on me. I come with these possible senarios in my head of how he could be cheating on me. I act like a "psycho girlfriend" and I hate it.

I have never been like this. He blames it on me being insecure. He doesnt know what else to do to prove to me that he doenst and would never cheat on me. I have never had a problem trusting people, this is the first. If his ex didnt live in the same town and we never saw her I probably would be like this. I dont know if I should trust my instincts or if it is me really being insecure. I love him so much but I am so scared of being hurt. I dont know what to do.
Please help.

Our Suggestion:
It really does sound like you are quite insecure and worried about him leaving you. I have a whole set of information on the site about how to get over jealousy -

you really need to make this a priority in your life. Jealousy can easily destroy even the strongest of relationships. It's up to you to find a way to trust him. He's right, there's no way he can prove his trustworthiness to you. You need to learn to trust him.
