I Want to Make Him Fall in Love With Me

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I was dating a guy (43, divorced for 10 years) for a week when he told me that it will not work, because I have a very strong personality for him. I asked him to give me a chance to learn more about me.

I am (38 y.o.) a single parent and I had to survive in this world and my strenth have helped me to do so.

After month and a half he called me and told that I am a good woman, but he wants to end this relationship and it is better for us to stay friends.

I love the guy. What can I do?? Can I make him to fall in love with me staying as a friend or it's better to give up?

Our Suggestion:
You can never, never, ever make someone love you. People have feelings. That is what makes them special. Every person is unique. Love is about two people BOTH naturally feeling love and affection and kinship for each other. You would force someone else to be different to love you? That's about the ultimate antithesis of love. Love is about wanting someone just the way they are.

I know it's hard, but you've already pressured this guy many times and he's told you you're just not right for him. You can certainly remain his friend, but you also need to actually listen when he talks to you. If your beginning of this relationship involves ignoring anything he tells you and trying to force him to do things differently, nothing (even friendship) is ever going to work.
