I'm Always the One Making Contact

Suggest Advice

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
I like someone, very much. We are friends, but I sense that he does not wish to investigate my character as a potential partner (mostly because I am always the one who e-mails him or makes an effort to see him).

How does one get over such emotional conflicts? It would be best if I could somehow bypass these feelings and get on with my life. Is there a way to do that?

Our Suggestion:
Just because you're the one who instigates the contact - don't take that as a sign that he's not interested! Obviously you two get along well together and have fun when you are together. Some people just aren't good at setting things up. In every relationship - even in marriages - one person is usually the planner and the other is the follower. The planner (who often is the woman) is the one who sets things up, keeps track of friends and does the organizing. The guy has fun when the events occur, but he's not as good at doing that planning.

So just think of yourself as the planner, and work on expanding your relationship with this guy. Spend more time with him, and see how things go!
