I Love my Best Friend

Visitor's Question:
hi, there is this girl that i met this year about 8 months ago. The second we met we quickly became very good friends. Over time she has become one of my best friends, me and her connect so well together, i gave her birthday and christmas presents that she appreciated very much. Very soon after meeting her i started thinking of her as more than a friend, i had a suspicion that we liked each other, my other friend constantly told me that we flirt with each other and that we like each other. We have gone on dates as friends to dinner/movie and i have soo much fun with her. I cant stop thinking of her, i have fallen in love. When asked if she likes me she replies that she only wants to be my friend, i assume that she doesnt want anything to happen to our great relationship as friends. I cant accept the fact that she doesnt like me, i feel it, as well as other people who all say we flirt and like each other. Her and I are so alike, we are basicaly the same person, we have so much in common. But now it seems that she is growing distant from me, like we dont talk as much as we used to, this got me very worried. She has confided in me and we have a very good, close friendship, i truely believe i have found the girl i could marry. What should i do, and how should i let her know how much i care about her?

Our Suggestion:
You are in a VERY common situation - and a great one! The greatest relationships begin with people who are great friends, who can talk about problems, who share common interests. It is also very common for people to be really afraid of losing that friendship, since it is so important to them. So you need to keep in mind that millions of other people around the world and throughout history have faced this exact same situation. The successful relationships are from people who went forward and became romantic - even though it was a bit scary to do that.

I have a TON of advice on the site about going from friend to boyfriend-girlfriend. Read through the advice and then start working on it!
