Visitor's Question:
I gave my good female friend a note on Valentine's day that said how I felt about her. She only used to talk to me sparingly, but since I gave her the note, we have became a lot closer. However, she never mentions getting it or looking at it. It's like this subject that I'm afraid to go back to because it might make things awkward - I mean, if she hasn't brought it up now (in June, 4 months after valentines day) then maybe it isn't such a good idea to bring it up. You see, I am a kinda shy person when it comes to asking people out. I believe in being friends before anything else but this doesn't seem to work...I've tried for ages, but fear strikes me and I always 'ask them out' by writing a special song just for them - well, that's what I did for this girl. I don't even know if she liked it! She could've thrown it away for all I know! Please help!

Our Suggestion:
You said that you gave her this Valentine note, and then the two of you became closer. Don't you think that the one might have influenced the other? You weren't friends, then the note, then you are friends.

I think that she's giving you signals already that she thinks fondly of you. So now's the time to get closer to her and become a best friend, and then slide it over into boy/girlfriend. We have a whole bunch of tips on how to do that:

I don't think you need to bring it up, unless you want to joke about it, "Should I give you a 4th of July note like that Valentine's note?" and see what her response is.

Good luck!
