He doesn't want a serious relationship

Visitor's Question:
I wrote you a couple of times but I think you didn't get it. I just strated seeing this guy, it been almost 3 months. I am older then him, I am 25 and he is 21. And yesterday he told me these: he doesn't want to have a serious relationship, he doesn't want to get married, and it can't go beyond what we already have. And what we already have is just hang out together and have sex. I was the first one for him. He is going to be pretty busy soon with school and the job. He told me that we won't see each other very often so he gave me a choice, to countinue this just seeing each other whenever he can, or break up. His words hurt me so much. Because i think i am falling for that guy. I don't know what should i do, what chances i have of changing his mind in a future? or will he ever change his mind. For all i know he could tell me in a year i am breaking up with you and i am sorry i told you that from the beggining. Please help me i don't know what to do, you are my last hope.

Our Suggestion:
You are the only one who can figure this one out. He was quite straightforward in telling you where he stands, but you are hoping he might change his mind. Nobody, not even the guy, can predict the future. A year from now he might be ready for marriage.

But, you have to deal with what he has told you now. If I were you, I would continue to see him and see what develops. But don't be surprised if you end up getting hurt down the road.

Be as assistive as you can be helping him deal with schoolwork and job, since those seem to be some of his worries. Don't pressure him for committment, since he is clearly not ready for that yet.

However, if you feel you need to drop him because that is what your gut tells you to do, now would be the perfect time.

Best of luck,
George
