Visitor's Question:
My girlfriend and I have been together for a over a year and the relationship was great. Recently we have not been getting along so well because I have not seen her in almost a month. Sometimes the relationship is hard because we are an hour apart when I'm not at school. Lately, she has not been acting the same. She disappears alot and tells me that we are going to hang out but then she never shows up. She claims that she has to work alot but I just dont know. When I ask her about it she always seems to have a valid excuse. I just dont know whats going on, I mean she tells me that she loves and wants to be with me, but things arent the same. Sometimes it seems as if she is avoiding me. Sometimes, I feel that I am not even worth a phone call because she doesnt even call me to let me know where she is. Right now I feel as if a dont have a girlfriend. I really love this girl with all my heart and we have been through a lot together but I really need help because I do not want to lose her.

Our Suggestion:
You two need a long honest talk where you can both communicate your feelings. You might expect that she will announce that she wants to break up. That may be a reason you might want to avoid having this honest talk, but you really have to do it. Trust is one of the lynchpins of a good relationship and you have lost it. You have to get it back or the relationship will probably fall apart on its own. So muster the courage to do it and tell her how you feel and ask her what she is feeling. Don't let her off easy, you know something has changed and need to find out what.

Good luck,
George
