Visitor's Question:
Hello. This could be a long one so please let me FULLY explain. There is a girl at school I really like and I'm pretty sure she likes me. We have three classes and lunch together. Here is why I think she likes me. Once, in gym, we were playing football and she and I were on the same team. Every time I would score a touchdown or catch a "hail mary" pass, she would congratulate me. Also, we also have the same lab period. She would ask me to borrow my lab so she could copy it, and I ALWAYS let her. When she's done, she returns my lab and thanks me. Recently, I wore what I thought was a really cool shirt, and I was hoping to god she would compliment my shirt. She did, thank god!! When we leave school, I always tell her to have a great afternoon or weekend (depending on the day), and she would say, "You, too!" with a BIG smile! Every time I see her, I would say, "Hi!" and she says something like, "Hi, how are you?"

One problem is that I ALWAYS say "hi" to HER first. She NEVER says "hi" to ME first (this really throws me back and gets me very confused).

I was thinking about asking her to a dance next Friday as "just friends" (we hardly know each other). I figured out what to say when asking her, but like all people, I am sometimes scared of rejection.

Recently, I keep saying to myself, "Maybe we should just stay friends and I should find someone else."
In case it matters, I'm 17 and never dated before and I am getting EXTREMELY impatient!
Thanks for all your help!

Our Suggestion:
Seems she likes you, so why not take a chance. Be brave and ask her out to the dance. We are all shy and fear rejection, but you can win the girl if you have no guts. Just say to her... "Would you like to go to the dance with me? Just friends." My guess is that she will be happy to asked. If she already has a date, at least you have let her know that you are interested.

Good luck,
George
