He's like a drill sargeant

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend of six months and I broke up yesterday. I have a 4yo daughter and he has a 8yo son. Everytime we have a serious enough argument and he "moves out" (He stays at my house every night) its always about my daughter (He says she doesn't listen, she's mouthy, whiny, messy, can't do anything herself) Shes 4!! Sometimes he's like a drill sargent, he treats his son strictly too. I appreciate his help, but I think its too much. Then we argue and he tells me he doesn't have to be around it, I need to get it figured out, life's too short, etc. How can 6 mo mean nothing to him? I don't understand how he can blow me off so easily. He is uncompromising and stubborn, and likes things his way, its the only right way. When it is just me and him tho it is great, we have so much fun together, i love him and he says he loves me but when we argue he's like whatever, and leaves!! He doesn't like to discuss things, or more accurately, he'll listen but he doesn't absorb it, I guess. Im confused about what to do~!

Our Suggestion:
My advice is to dump him. You have had 6 months to put up with his bad behavior. One of the things that will ruin a relationship is when one of the persons refuses to talk about things. Good communication is one of the foundations of a good relationship.

Think also how this is affecting your daughter. She does not need to have an adult acting like a child around her.

You and your daughter would be better off without him around.

Good luck!
George
