He puts guilt trip on her because of girls night out

Visitor's Question:
When we first started dating 7 months ago, we spent a lot of time together. Recently I have wanted to go out with my girlfriends and he is not invited. I told him to go out with his friends and he said he did not have any ( he is from the same town) When I do go out with them he gives me guilt trips and says sarcasticly that he is glad someone gets to have fun and that 'he guesses he'll just sit around the house' waiting for me to get home. We live together and this is becoming more of a problem. I end up not enjoying my night out as much because of the guilt he lays on me before I walk out the door.

Our Suggestion:
Discuss the problem straight out with him.

You are not doing anything wrong by going out with the girls. He is jealous of your fun and probably jealous about what you might do while out on the town.

One night a week is no big deal and he should deal with it like an adult. If he has no friends then he needs to make some... or even just go to a bar and watch sports and maybe make small talk with others there.

Too much togetherness can sometimes be a problem for one or the other of a couple. We all need some space to ourselves.

So, have a nice, honest comprehensive talk with him about why it is important for you to have a night out. If he continues to be so controlling, you may need to rethink your relationship.

Good luck!
George
