Visitor's Question:
I know you have probably read very similar situations to the one I'm about to tell you, but this time I'm a friend enquiring for a friend. She doesn't know I'm writing for her, but I thought of her when I logged onto the Romance Class website. She's 17 and has this guy friend (he's 16) who she's very friendly with. They play around a lot during class, they slap each other on the legs, she sits on his lap, they joke around and flirt A LOT with each other. They spend a lot of time together at breaks and she tells me that they never run out of things to talk about. Everyone else can see that they like each other (she really likes him), but there's a problem, as soon as anyone says anything to them about getting together he sort of laughs and shrugs it off, and because he does that, she does too. He also NEVER calls or SMS's her, and he's told her that he does sms girls he likes. Now it's holidays and they had an argument before school closed. She smsed him to ask if he's angry but he hasn't replyed and seems to be totally ignoring her. He's sending really mixed messages to her and she really wants to go out with him. He may embarresed to ask her out beacause she's slightly overweight but i don't think thats it. Do You think he likes her? What do suggest she does? Sorry this is so long! From a friend trynno help a friend.

Our Suggestion:
It sounds like he enjoys flirting with her but doesn't like her very much.

He won't contact her... that is a very important sign that he doesn't like her. He won't reply to her contacts... that's another sign.

I don't see any positive signs that he likes her except as a flirt.

As a last short, she could contact him and tell him that she cares for him and wonders how he feels about her. It can't hurt to ask and it's better than wondering.

Good luck to your friend!
George
