Can Low Sex Drive = Lack of Trust?

Visitor's Question:
Can low sex drive be related to poor communication and lack of trust in a relationship?

Our Suggestion:
Definitely! Sex is all about wanting to be with a person, wanting to be close and personal with that person. If you're, for instance, repulsed by a person physically or emotionally, you'll find it hard to want to have sex with them. Sex is about sharing yourself at your most primal, at your most vulnerable. You instinctively don't want to be that vulnerable with someone you don't trust.

It really sounds like low sex drive is just one indicator that something's very wrong between you two. You should probably look into talking to a therapist together, to talk about the lack of trust, and about ways to build it up. All relationships are built on a foundation of trust. If there's no trust there, there really isn't a good relationship. If you can't depend on someone you're with, you're not really 'together'. It's more like you're 'drifting side by side in the same general direction'.
